Articulation (speech sounds)
Articulation therapy for adults
Articulation therapy can help adults who have reduced intelligibility, feel they are hard to understand, or have trouble with certain speech sounds. You'll work by video with a licensed speech therapist who supports you with strategies for producing each sound and practicing it in everyday words and conversation. Sessions are 30 minutes, booked one at a time or weekly.

Online sessions
What therapy looks like
-
What happens in a session?
Your therapist listens to your speech, finds the sounds that are making it harder to be understood, and shows you how to make them, using a close-up view of your mouth and simple cues. You practice from single words up to sentences and conversation, including the words you use most at work, home, or in your personal life.
-
What do I do between sessions?
A few minutes of practice most days, using word lists and phrases from your own life. Your therapist will help you pick everyday moments to use your new sounds, like a phone call or a meeting.
-
How is progress tracked?
At the evaluation, we listen to your speech and set goals for specific sounds based on what is challenging for you. Your therapist tracks your production of each sound, from words up to conversation, and you'll get regular updates on what is working well and what we need to adjust.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Still wondering about something? A free 15-minute call is a good place to ask.
Is it too late to work on speech sounds as an adult?
No. Adults can learn to make sounds more clearly with practice and the right cues. Your therapist will help you set goals that matter in your daily life.
I had speech therapy as a kid. Can I go back?
Yes. Many adults come back because a sound never fully settled, or it matters more now, like at work. The evaluation shows where to start.
Does articulation therapy work over video?
Yes, it is a great way to connect with your speech therapist and target your goals in the comfort of your natural environment.
Is adult articulation therapy medically necessary?
Articulation therapy is considered medically necessary and can be submitted to your insurance with your Superbill. Reimbursement isn't guaranteed, so check with your plan.
