These terms apply to your use of talkingjay.com, run by Talking Jay PLLC, doing business as Talking Jay Speech Therapy ("Talking Jay," "we," "us"). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
The website is for general information
Articles, guides and other content on this site are general education about speech, language, voice and communication. They are not a diagnosis, treatment plan or substitute for an evaluation by a licensed speech-language pathologist. Every person is different, and only an evaluation can tell you what you or your child needs.
Reading the site, filling out the contact form, emailing us or talking with us on a free consultation call does not make you a client or create a therapist-client relationship. That relationship starts only after you book, complete intake and attend your first evaluation.
Not for emergencies
We do not provide emergency services, and we may not see messages right away. If you or someone else is in danger or having a medical emergency, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988.
Where we provide therapy
Our therapist is licensed in Texas, Virginia and Arizona. We are currently accepting clients in Texas. All therapy takes place by secure video. State licensing rules require the client to be physically located in Texas during each session. We may change the states we serve as our therapists' licenses change.
Booking, fees and policies
Scheduling, intake forms, the client portal, payments and video sessions run through SimplePractice. When you use them, SimplePractice's terms also apply.
Our prices are listed on our pricing page. We do not bill insurance. Payment is due at the time of service. Fees, our cancellation policy, consent forms and other client agreements are provided during intake, and those agreements control your care. If anything in these website terms conflicts with your client agreements, the client agreements win.
If you are uninsured or not using insurance, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges. See our Good Faith Estimate notice.
Using the site
You agree not to:
- Use the site in a way that breaks any law
- Try to get into parts of the site or our systems you are not allowed to access
- Interfere with the site's operation, including by sending malware or automated traffic meant to overload it
- Copy or reuse our content in a way these terms do not allow
Our content
The text, logo, the Talking Jay name, graphics and other content on this site belong to Talking Jay PLLC or the people who licensed them to us. You may view, print and share pages for personal, non-commercial use, as long as you do not change them and you keep our name on them. Any other use needs our written permission.
Links to other websites
Our site links to other websites, including SimplePractice and professional directories. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
No warranties
We work to keep the site accurate and available, but we provide it "as is." We do not promise that it will always be available, error-free or up to date.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, Talking Jay PLLC and its owner, therapists and staff are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages that come from using or not being able to use this website. This section covers the website only. It does not limit any rights you have as a client under the law or your client agreements.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information this site collects. Our Notice of Privacy Practices explains how we protect the health information of our clients.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any dispute about this website will be handled in the state or federal courts serving Lubbock County, Texas, unless the law of your state requires otherwise.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
