Speech therapy in San Antonio
How speech therapy works in San Antonio
San Antonio is served by several large school districts, so the right first step depends on your child's age and your address.
For children under 3, Bexar County has three Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) providers, including Easter Seals and The Center for Health Care Services, and the Texas HHS program search shows which one serves your address. From age 3, school evaluations come from your public school district. Northside ISD, the largest district in the area, covers much of the north and west sides, North East ISD covers the north and northeast, and San Antonio ISD covers most of the center of the city. Smaller districts serve the south and east sides. In Northside ISD, families of children 3 and older start with their home campus.
For in-person care, Our Lady of the Lake University's Harry Jersig Speech-Language-Hearing Center sees children, adults and older adults for speech, language, voice, swallowing and hearing, and CHRISTUS Children's offers outpatient speech therapy for children in San Antonio and New Braunfels. Private clinics across the city see clients in person too.
Online therapy is one more option. Sessions happen by video from home or work, so a 30-minute session doesn't turn into an hour on Loop 410 or I-10. If you move from one side of town to the other, you keep the same therapist, as long as you're in Texas for each session.
