Privacy policy
Effective date: November 8, 2026
Talking Jay PLLC, doing business as Talking Jay Speech Therapy ("Talking Jay," "we," "us"), runs talkingjay.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website or contact us, how we use it, and the choices you have.
This policy covers our website, not your therapy records
This policy covers talkingjay.com and general contact with us by email, phone or text before you become a client.
Health information you share as a client, such as intake forms, evaluations, session notes and billing, is handled under our Notice of Privacy Practices. That notice explains how we use and protect your health information and what rights you have over it.
Our contact form is provided by SimplePractice, our secure practice management system, so anything you send through it is protected the same way as client records. Please do not send health details by regular email or text. We will ask for that information through the contact form or our secure client portal.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you fill out the contact form, email us, call, or text, we receive what you choose to share, usually your name, email address, phone number and a short message about what you are looking for.
Website usage information. We use Google Analytics to understand how our site is used, such as which pages are visited, which buttons are clicked, how visitors found us, and what type of device and browser they use. Google Analytics uses cookies, small files saved in your browser, to tell visits apart. These cookies are set only if you choose Accept in the cookie banner. If you choose Decline, or make no choice, Google Analytics does not load. We have turned off Google's advertising features and Google signals, and we do not use this information for advertising. Google Analytics does not record or store your full IP address. We see totals and trends, not profiles of individual visitors.
Cookies and your choices
The only cookies our website sets are Google Analytics cookies, and only after you accept them. They usually begin with "_ga" and can last up to 2 years unless you clear them. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. If you decline after accepting, we remove the Google Analytics cookies from your browser. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.
Our booking and contact forms are provided by SimplePractice, which may set its own cookies when a form opens, as described in its privacy policy.
Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes basic technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
Information stored in your browser. Our site saves small notes in your browser's storage: one to remember your cookie choice, one so that a pop-up offering a free consultation is shown to you only once, and one so that a booking bar you close stays closed during your visit. They contain no personal information and are never sent to us. You can clear them at any time through your browser settings.
What we do not do
- We do not use advertising cookies, ad pixels, or tracking tools from Meta, TikTok, Google Ads or similar platforms.
- We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
- We do not build profiles of visitors.
Contact form, booking and the client portal
The contact form and the booking form on our site are SimplePractice forms shown inside our pages. What you type into them goes directly to SimplePractice, not to our website, and is handled under our Notice of Privacy Practices. SimplePractice may also collect technical information, such as your browser type, when a form loads. Its code loads only when you reach for a booking button.
When you book an evaluation, ask for a free consultation, or sign in to the client portal, you use SimplePractice, our scheduling, records and billing provider. SimplePractice handles your information under our Notice of Privacy Practices and its own privacy policy. We have a business associate agreement with SimplePractice that requires it to protect your health information.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Answer your questions and respond to your messages
- Schedule a free consultation or evaluation when you ask us to
- Understand which parts of our website are useful, and improve it
- Keep our website secure and working
- Meet legal obligations
Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the practice, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Cloudflare, which hosts our website
- Google, which provides Google Analytics if you accept analytics cookies
- Google Workspace, which provides our business email and phone service
- SimplePractice, which provides our contact form, scheduling, the client portal and billing
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of our practice.
Email, phone and text messages
Regular email and text messages are not fully secure. We use them for scheduling, billing questions and first contact only. Please keep health details out of email and texts. If you send them anyway, we will move the conversation to our secure client portal.
If you give us your phone number, we may call or text you about scheduling. We do not send marketing texts. Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them.
How long we keep information
We keep messages from people who are not clients for as long as needed to respond and follow up, then archive them after 2 years. Google Analytics keeps website usage information for up to 14 months, then deletes it. Client records are kept as required by law, as explained in our Notice of Privacy Practices.
Children
Our services are for children and adults, but our website is meant for parents, guardians and adult clients. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
How we protect information
We use reputable providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS), two-step sign-in on our business accounts, and limited access to messages and records. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You may ask us to tell you what personal information we have from your website visits or messages, to correct it, or to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 45 days. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
To ask about your health records instead, see our Notice of Privacy Practices.
Links to other websites
Our site links to other websites, such as SimplePractice and professional directories. Their privacy practices are their own, and we encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practice or the law changes. We will post the new version here with a new effective date.
