Professional communication
Professional communication coaching
Professional communication coaching helps you speak clearly and with confidence at work: in presentations, meetings, interviews and on video calls. You'll work by video with a licensed speech-language pathologist on pace, clarity, voice and how you organize what you say.

Good to know
The short version
- We work on pace, clarity, volume and how you structure what you say.
- It's elective, so insurance and HSA or FSA funds usually don't apply.
- If we note concerns with speech production or voice, we will discuss them with you during a consult or evaluation.
Who it helps
Is this right for me?
- Professionals who get asked to repeat themselves, or hear that they talk too fast or too quietly
- People getting ready for a presentation, interview, promotion or new role
- Managers who want to run meetings and give feedback more clearly
- Anyone who feels their voice or speech holds them back at work
When to reach out
Sound familiar?
-
Situation: Presentations
- You rush, lose your place, or feel your voice shake
- Listeners seem to miss your main point
-
Situation: Meetings and calls
- People ask you to repeat yourself, or talk over you
- It's hard to get a word in or to sound sure of yourself
-
Situation: Interviews
- You know your material, but it doesn't come across in the room
If any of these sound like you, coaching can help.

What therapy looks like
-
What happens in a session?
Your therapist listens to how you speak and focuses on what matters for your goals, like pace, pausing, volume or how you open and close. Bring a real presentation, rehearse a meeting or record a practice talk for feedback.
-
What do I do between sessions?
Between sessions, you practice at work. Your therapist gives you one short, specific thing to focus on each week, like pausing after key points or opening a meeting with a clear summary.
Recording yourself on your phone or in a video meeting is an easy way to practice and to hear the difference.
-
How is progress tracked?
At the first session, we listen to how you speak now and set goals with you. We track progress with recordings and with how your real work situations go, and look at it together regularly. Some people want help for one big presentation, others for a few months. You set the pace.

What can coaching work on?
| Area | Examples |
|---|---|
| Pace and pausing | Slowing down, pausing after key points, not rushing the ending |
| Clarity | Being understood the first time, on the phone and on video |
| Voice | Volume, projection, variety and less strain on long days |
| Structure | Opening with your main point, summarizing, handling questions |
Why work with a speech-language pathologist?
Speech-language pathologists are trained in how speech, voice and language actually work. So coaching can get into the mechanics of how you sound, not just what you say. And if something like a voice problem or stuttering is part of the picture, we’ll catch it.
Pricing
Simple, clear pricing
One price list for everyone, and you pay per visit. We don't bill insurance, but we can provide you with a superbill for you to send to your insurance company for out-of-network coverage. We do accept HSA and FSA cards.
HSA and FSA funds usually don't cover this service, because it doesn't treat a medical condition.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Still wondering about something? A free 15-minute call is a good place to ask.
Is this speech therapy or coaching?
It's coaching from a licensed speech-language pathologist. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association lists professional communication as an elective service, because it doesn't treat a disorder.
Can I use insurance, HSA or FSA funds?
Usually not. Because coaching doesn't treat a medical condition, insurers rarely pay for it, and it often doesn't qualify for HSA or FSA funds. Check with your plan if you're not sure.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your goals. Some people come for a few sessions before a big presentation. Others work on a skill over several months. You book sessions one at a time.
Do I need an evaluation first?
We start with an evaluation so we can hear how you speak now, check whether a speech or voice problem might be part of the picture, and set goals with you.
Ready when you are
Most families start with a 60-minute evaluation. If you'd rather talk first, book a free 15-minute call and ask us anything.
